Learner Experience Design breaks down the course objectives into powerful, purposeful, and personal learning experiences.
Experiences such as:
Personalized content and technical writing for workbooks, deliverables, presentations, and more.
Our e-learning courses are designed for today's adult learners using the best software available. Our customized solutions are highly-interactive, mobile-friendly, SCORM, and ADA compliant.
Powerful Graphic Design enhances learnability and provides for a purposeful learner engagement.
To meet the needs of our adult learners, our courses are designed using cutting-edge software, incorporating graphic design principles and visual storytelling techniques to engage all learners.
Our process is simple, highly collaborative, and personal. Our multiphase approach to instructional design ensures course objectives are clear, learner experiences support and engage the learner, and the desired results are achieved.
Phase One: Client Discovery- Understanding what are the needs, how can training help, and who are the learners
Phase Two: Analysis Phase- Discovering the needs of the learners, the needs of the business, and results from prior training.
Phase Three: Course Blueprint- Determining the Instructional Approach, Learning Platforms, Learner Experiences, Clarifying Course Objectives and Lesson Objectives, Storyboarding, and Beta Testing.
What has proven successful for us is andragogy that is straightforward, easy to understand, and flexible enough to meet the demand of today's adult learners. ADDIE, Knowles, Backwards Design, Bloom's, and UDL or Universal Design For Learning serve as the foundation of our andragogy.
We approach ADDIE as a fluid process, a process that is not necessarily linear but iterative. Allowing for the design flow to grow and develop throughout all phases of ADDIE
Analysis- Design-Development-Implementation-Evaluation.
We believe that the design process begins with understanding the adult learner and their needs, as described by Knowles. Next, adult learners need to understand the "why" behind the learning, manage their learning experiences, and bring in a "real-life" connection" to the course. Adult learners need to get their hands dirty and solve a problem. Lastly, adult learners need to understand "what's in it for them, basically what personal gain they will get from the course.
A personal experience best explains the Backward Design approach. When my son was younger, he wanted a homemade chocolate cake for his birthday; I had to start with the "final product" in mind to make this happen. So first, I pictured what that chocolate cake would look like, the expression on his face when he saw it, and the smiles to follow as he enjoyed every bite of his cake. Then, starting with the end in mind, I worked backward to assemble a step-by-step process of what I needed to do to make his desire for a chocolate birthday cake a reality.
The same applies when we design our courses. We start by understanding the end result, what new skill needs to be learned, and what cultural shifts need to occur. Understanding the end result and working backward allows us to scaffold those learning experiences to create a more enriching and engaging learning experience for the adult learner.
Bloom's is a powerful tool used to enhance engagement, drill down for understanding, and clarify what the learner should accomplish.
Conclusion: there is no doubt e-Learning has forever changed the landscape of education, impacting not just adult learning but also primary and secondary learning. Our approach is to design courses for ALL learners; in our Learner Analysis, we take time to try and understand the barriers to learning and help the learners overcome those barriers.
Applying the UDL principles to our designs, especially to e-Learning, helps ensure the relevancy of learning, the authenticity of learning, and improve the value of learning for ALL learners.
