Learning and Leadership in Action

Situation

A mid-sized financial institution was struggling with unproductive leadership meetings. The leaders, who were primarily adult learners, lacked the skills and structure necessary to drive decisions efficiently. This shortcoming in their approach to customized instructional design for meetings resulted in wasted time and delayed outcomes, highlighting the need for effective eLearning solutions.

Task

The organization needed a learning solution that would equip adult learners with the tools and behaviors to run more effective meetings, improve collaboration, and accelerate decision-making through customized instructional design and eLearning solutions.

Action

We applied the ADDIE instructional design framework to deliver a blended leadership development program tailored for adult learners: Conducted a needs analysis and built learner personas to guide our customized instructional design. Developed scenario-based modules for real-world application. Designed a blended program that includes eLearning solutions, instructor-led training, and facilitator toolkits. Incorporated role-play exercises and case studies to strengthen engagement and retention.

Result

We observed an 87% increase in meeting productivity within 90 days, particularly benefiting adult learners who engage with our customized instructional design. This approach has led to reduced decision-making time across leadership teams. As a result, leaders reported higher confidence, stronger alignment, and improved organizational impact through our tailored eLearning solutions.

DESIGNING BLENDED LEARNING FOR CHILD WELFARE SUPERVISORS

Situation

The Florida Department of Children and Families needed a statewide training program to prepare new Child Protective Investigator (CPI) supervisors. Existing training was inconsistent, outdated, and not aligned with current child welfare practice. 

Task

As a Senior Instructional Designer for DCF, I was tasked with developing a blended learning framework that could be delivered in-person, virtually, or online. The goal was to equip supervisors with the leadership, compliance, and decision-making skills necessary to support frontline investigators and improve child safety outcomes. 

Action

 

  • Applied the ADDIE framework to guide design and development.
     
  • Conducted a comprehensive needs and learner analysis to understand supervisory challenges.
     
  • Designed a blended curriculum including eLearning modules, virtual instructor-led training, and facilitator toolkits.
     
  • Integrated scenario-based learning for real-world application.
     
  • Ensured all deliverables were SCORM-compliant and ADA-accessible.

Result

 

  • Successfully developed the statewide CPI Supervisor Certification Course.
     
  • Delivered a flexible program adaptable to in-person, virtual, and online formats.
     
  • Recognized internally as a model for future workforce training programs.

DESIGNING INDUSTRY LEARNING FOR SAP

Situation

SAP needed scalable, engaging training programs to support the global rollout of Business AI and industry-specific learning solutions. The challenge was to translate complex AI and enterprise concepts into clear, role-based training for industries like Professional Services, Life Sciences, Defense and Security, High Tech, Sports and Entertainment, Supply Chain, Finance, and Construction. 

Task

 As a Learning Experience Designer consulting with SAP, I was responsible for designing and developing industry learning programs that would drive adoption, relevance, and measurable impact across global enterprise clients. 

Action

 

  • Partnered with SAP Industry Business Unit (IBU) leaders and SMEs to define learning needs.
     
  • Applied role-based alignment (CFO, COO, CRO, etc.) to ensure training relevance.
     
  • Designed end-to-end curricula including participant handbooks, instructor-led training, eLearning, and assessments.
     
  • Produced multimedia components: narrated videos, Synthesia modules, WellSaid Labs audio, and interactive exercises.
     
  • Ensured alignment with SAP’s  learning standards and delivery timelines.

Result

 

  • Delivered multiple industry-specific AI courses (Professional Services, Life Sciences, Construction, etc.) now used across SAP’s global learning ecosystem.
     
  • Improved adoption of SAP solutions by tailoring training to industry value chains.
     
  • Recognized internally as a model for scalable industry training.
