Jeremy dearinger, sr instructional designer

About Me


I’m an instructional designer who turns complex systems into simple, human learning experiences—built with clarity, empathy, and a deep respect for the people doing the work.


I’ve spent my career helping people understand complicated things. What started in banking and finance, then to education and school leadership, eventually led me to designing training for state agencies, enterprise teams, and global industries—each with their own challenges, processes, and learners.


Through it all, one truth has remained constant: Learning is about people first. Their fears. Their needs. Their desire to not feel overwhelmed. My job is to meet them there.
 

Today, I design learning that makes difficult topics feel approachable. Whether I’m working with SAP product teams, state government agencies like DCF, or private-sector clients, my focus is always the same—create training that helps real people do real work with confidence.


What I Do


I build modern learning experiences that simplify complexity and support real-world performance. That includes:


  • eLearning design (Storyline, Rise, custom experiences)
     
  • SAP S/4HANA industry learning (Professional Services, Defense, Life Sciences, EC&O, Mills, etc.)
     
  • Curriculum development and storyboard creation
     
  • Microlearning and scenario-based design
     
  • Video scripting and narrative development
     
  • Performance support materials and job aids
     

Most of my work sits at the intersection of people, process, and technology, turning expert knowledge into something practical and clear.


How I Work


My process is simple and grounded in empathy:


  1. Listen first.
    Understand the learner, the content, and the pain points.
     
  2. Find the story.
    Every process or system has a narrative that makes it easier to understand.
     
  3. Design with clarity.
    Short, focused, human-centered learning that respects the learner’s time.
     
  4. Iterate with the team.
    SMEs, product owners, and stakeholders are collaborators—not obstacles.
     

I value steady communication, predictable delivery, and building solutions that make teams’ lives easier, not harder.
